Yamaha Rhino ATV Rollover Danger

Yamaha Corporation has recently recalled more of its Rhino Side by Side ( SxS) ATV vehicles from the market due to the high risk of rollover.

How much do you know about the defective design of the Yamaha Rhino ATV and its rollover risks? The Rhino ATV is known as side-by-side, because its two seats are next to one another. The features of Rhino ATV do not come with doors and passenger handholds have increased the rollover risks of the vehicles. On top of that, other flaw designs of the Rhino ATV are:

• The Yamaha Rhino is narrow, and wider vehicles can be more stable
• The Yamaha Rhino is top-heavy and therefore has a high center of gravity
• The Yamaha Rhino has small tires, and small tires give the vehicle less of a platform for stability

These factors combined make the Yamaha Rhino ATV unstable and more likely to tip over when going around a corner or hitting a bump or stone in the terrain. There have been serious injuries when going around corners at LOW SPEEDS and on FLAT TERRAIN. Drivers and passengers have been seriously injured in rollover accidents involving the Yamaha Rhino. The most common injuries have involved broken or crushed ankles, legs and feet, as well as injuries to arms and hands. Some injuries have been so severe that amputation was required. Injuries to children have been even more severe; children have been thrown from the Rhino and have been fatally crushed by the ATV as it rolled over. Other children have sustained serious brain trauma or head injuries after being thrown from the Rhino. Anyhow Yamaha blames drivers for Rhino injuries.
